Project Overview
Following the unexpected closure of Latrobe’s only childcare centre, Lady Gowrie Tasmania moved quickly to establish a new early learning facility to support local families while their larger purpose built centre on Cotton Street progresses.
Falcon Building Group was engaged to transform an existing property on Gilbert Street into a functional childcare facility for the Latrobe community and delivered a full design, approvals and construction package, refurbishing the building to create a safe and welcoming environment for children, educators and families.
Scope of Work
The project involved the refurbishment and reconfiguration of an existing building to meet the operational and compliance requirements of a childcare facility.
Works included:
-
- Internal reconfiguration to create learning and nursery spaces
- Upgrades to amenities and staff facilities
- New internal finishes and joinery
- Safety and compliance improvements
Challenges & Key Outcomes
With the closure of Latrobe’s previous childcare service, timing was critical to ensure continuity of care for local families. Falcon Building Group worked closely with Lady Gowrie Tasmania to design and deliver a compliant childcare environment within a compressed program. Careful planning and coordination enabled the building to be adapted into practical learning spaces while meeting the required safety and operational standards.
Project Impact
The completed facility now provides a safe and functional early learning environment for the Latrobe community. By transforming an existing building within a tight timeframe, the project ensured local families continued to have access to essential childcare services while the new Cotton Street childcare centre progresses.
