Launceston Toyota
Project Overview
Falcon Building Group was engaged to complete a major refurbishment and upgrade of the Launceston Toyota dealership in Kings Meadows.
The project involved extensive alterations and additions to the existing facility, creating an updated showroom, reception and customer areas, offices and amenities, alongside roofing works, services upgrades and a renewed external façade. The existing parts office was also refurbished as part of the works.
With the dealership remaining operational throughout construction, careful planning, staging and coordination were key to delivering the project while minimising disruption to staff and customers.
Timeline & Expectations
The project was delivered through a staged construction program, allowing Launceston Toyota to continue operating while works progressed across different areas of the dealership.
Temporary hoardings and staff relocations were used to separate construction zones from operational areas, with completed spaces progressively handed back to the Toyota team as the project moved forward.
This approach allowed the team to maintain progress while working around the day-to-day requirements of an active dealership.
Scope of Work
The project incorporated a substantial refurbishment of both customer-facing and operational areas of the dealership.
The scope included:
· New reception area
· Customer lounge and café
· New offices and staff amenities
· New entry and external façade
· Roofing and cladding works
· Structural works
· New glazing and shopfronts
· Internal finishes and joinery
· Flooring, and upgrades to building services
The existing parts office was also refurbished, including new ceiling and floor finishes, joinery and painting.
Challenges & Key Outcomes
One of the key considerations throughout the project was completing extensive refurbishment works while the dealership remained operational.
The works were carefully staged to separate construction activities from staff and customer areas, with temporary hoardings and staff relocations used as the project progressed. Roofing works were also completed progressively, allowing areas to be handed back before moving into the next stage.
Careful coordination between each stage allowed substantial demolition, construction and refurbishment works to progress while maintaining the dealership’s ongoing operations.
Who Was Involved in the Project
Falcon Building Group worked alongside 6ty°, who provided architectural, electrical, mechanical, hydraulic and civil engineering services, with Exceed Engineering providing structural engineering services.
Close coordination between the client, consultants, Falcon and trades was important throughout the staged delivery of the project.
Project Impact
The completed refurbishment has provided Launceston Toyota with an updated, functional dealership designed to better support both its customers and team.
From the renewed showroom and customer areas through to upgraded offices, amenities and external presentation, the project has brought together a significant range of improvements across the existing facility.
Delivered within a live operating environment, the project is another example of Falcon’s ability to carefully plan and coordinate complex commercial refurbishment works while keeping the client’s operations front of mind.
