Perched in the rolling hills of Lilydale, The Ridge Winery now boasts a brand new ModWood outdoor dining facility, expertly delivered by Falcon Building Group. Built to handle the elements and complement the original farm cottage, the new area provides a low maintenance outdoor space that blends seamlessly with the vineyard view.

Timelines & Expectations

The project was delivered on a tight timeframe, aligned with The Ridge’s upcoming events schedule. Clear communication and detailed planning ensured minimal disruption and a seamless handover. A practical, good looking upgrade that enhances the cellar door experience and gives guests the perfect spot to unwind.

Scope of Work

The brief was to create a durable, low maintenance outdoor area that enhances the visitor experience and showcases the surrounding vineyard views.

The scope of works included:

• Construction of a Mod Wood deck to provide a low-maintenance, durable outdoor area.
• Construction of a wrap-around verandah with a country-style roof to create sheltered space and enhance the building’s character.
• Supply & installation of a glass balustrade to maintain safety without obstructing views of the vineyard.
• Minor upgrades to the existing cottage

Challenges & Key Outcomes

The main challenge was working with the site’s terrain and ensuring the new space tied in seamlessly with the existing building. Careful planning and precise execution meant we could deliver a level, durable platform without disrupting the surrounding landscape

“As the Construction Manager for this project, my focus was on delivering a high-quality finish that complemented the existing structure and the winery’s overall setting. Coordinating the build of the ModWood deck, wrap-around verandah, and glass balustrade involved careful planning and close communication with both the client and trades to ensure everything came together smoothly.

One of the key challenges was integrating new elements with the existing cellar door while maintaining a consistent look and ensuring structural integrity.
