Falcon Building Group were engaged to construct a bespoke function room at Westella Funerals in Ulverstone, designed to complement the existing homestead and offer a welcoming, dignified space for families to gather. The new addition reflects a balance of sensitivity, architectural detail, and comfort, supporting Westella’s reputation for personalised, boutique and funeral services.

Timelines & Expectations

Located adjacent to an operational funeral home, the project required close coordination and respectful delivery. Falcon worked around scheduled services and ensured all construction activity remained discreet, timely, and in line with the client’s operational requirements.

Scope of works

Westella Funerals vision was for a warm and modern barn-style space that blends seamlessly with the historic character of the existing homestead.

The scope included:

• Timber framed construction with raked ceilings and exposed beams
• Open-plan layout with floor to ceiling glazing
• Feature wood fire for year-round warmth
• Vertical timber paneling and natural finishes
• Creation of a private family room
• Custom barn doors

Challenges & Key Outcomes

Building within a live operating environment, Falcon Building Group managed site access and scheduling with care. Despite logistical limitations, the project was delivered to a high standard, on time, on budget and with minimal disruption.
